PuTTY for Symbian OS

PuTTY for Symbian OS is an SSH client and terminal emulator for mobile phone. It lets us connect to SSH servers, typically Unix or Linux machines, over the network. The latest version 1.5.2 can run on both

  • S60 third edition : Nokia E61, N80, E90, N95, and others
  • Series 80 v2.0 : Nokia 9300, 9300i, and 9500

The Home page for the PuTTY for Symbian OS can be found here

I recommend u to read the documentation which can be downloaded from here

Am using the Symbian Putty Touch UI edition which can be installed on

  • Symbian 3 – N8,E7 ..
  • S60 v5 – 5800,N97 ..
  • S60 v3 – N95,N73 ..

The home page for Symbian Putty Touch UI edition can be found here ..The .sisx file can be downloaded from the same page depending on your mobile .

The Installation is the usual one …Download the .sisx file > Transfer it to mobile memory > Open the .sisx file from mobile > Follow the onscreen instructions > Done !! 🙂

The Application will be located at Menu > Applications > PuTTY

In General menu enter the following details(as per your system configuration)… And the other options can be left to default values ..

Once the configuration is done select the profile name and click on connect

Once the connection is done you will be prompted to enter the password

Now u r connected !!! 🙂 🙂

Now u can do all kinds of remote system administration 🙂

The usability of this application is really wonderful and the User Interface is really easy to use 🙂

Am in love with this application 🙂 🙂

Thank you Risto Avila for developing PuTTY Touch UI 🙂 🙂

  2. hi, your instructions to install putty on nokia symbian was useful. I followed all the instructions, however it does not ask for password and it shows the blank screen with only those 8 blue colored tabs.

I am waiting to see the linux prompt on my nokia 500 symbian anna. Can you please suggest.
